This Saturday, St. Patrick's Day, AAA is offering its free Tipsy Tow service so that celebrants who had a little too much can get home safely, a spokesman said.

The service begins at 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 17 and runs through 6:00 am on Sunday monring, according to AAA.

Drivers, passengers, party hosts, bartenders or restaurant managers can call (800) AAA-HELP and request a Tipsy Tow, officials said. They ask that drivers should be prepared to give their name, home address, phone number, location and vehicle description.

In a statement, AAA Northern California spokesman Michael Blasky said "St. Patrick's Day is widely celebrated by drinking green beer and other spirits, so we urge revelers to include a safe ride home in their plans for the evening,"

"Should your luck run out, AAA's Tipsy Tow will be there to help get you home safely," Blasky adds.

Tipsy Tow provides a free ride home and vehicle tow of up to 10 miles. For mileage beyond the 10 mile limit, drivers are charged a standard towing rate, AAA officials said. Roadside assistance is not included. According to AAA, drivers do not have to be AAA members to use the program.

AAA estimates say motorists with first-time DUI offense can cost them over $10,000+ in fines, penalties, legal fees and increased insurance rates.
