The Dave Matthews Band announced that a portion of proceeds from their May 27 concert in Charlotte will benefit five LGBT advocacy groups.

The band is the latest musical act to speak out against HB2, a piece of state legislation which bars transgender people from using public bathrooms that reflect their gender identities. Beneficiaries of the donation include the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Lambda Legal, ACLU of North Carolina, Equality NC and Time Out Youth.

“Dave Matthews Band identified these organizations with the assistance of NC Needs You, an organization that encourages artists to keep their dates in North Carolina in order to bring awareness and resources to the fight for equality in response to House Bill 2,” said the band in a statement. The selected organizations are spearheading legal and political battles against the discriminatory legislation.
