Ariana Grande slayed at last night’s MTV Movie Awards with her polished rendition of “Dangerous Woman.” Grande was introduced by Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid and performed an arrangement by Broadway composer (and longtime collaborator) Jason Robert Brown.
Her outfit bore subtle resemblance to Madonna’s Dick Tracy styling from the 1991 Oscar ceremony, bringing old Hollywood flair to a made-for-Snapchat event. Grande can add the show to her growing list of scorched earth live performances, including Saturday Night Live.
A popcorn trophy from the MTV Movie Awards might not carry the same prestige as an Oscar, but that didn’t stop the show’s producers from piling on the musical highlights:
Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart gave The Revenant hip-hop treatment.
Halsey performed her latest single “Castle” from The Huntsman: Winter’s War.
Salt N Pepa performed the definitive Deadpool tribute.
The Lonely Island dusted off some Will Smith rap hits.
