OAKLAND (ALICE 97.3) — Prince will be kicking off his long-anticipated “Piano & A Microphone Tour” with two shows at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland this Sunday, according to a press release.
The solo shows, which has so far have only been held at Prince’s Paisley Park estate during a residency there and a recent run of Australian theater dates, will feature the iconic songwriter performing an array of hit songs and rarities drawn from his huge catalog of 39 albums along with other surprises. The February 28 performances at the Paramount Theatre taking place at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. will be the first two concerts of this North American tour.
While ostensibly to promote his most recent album releases, HITnRUN Phase I and HITnRUN Phase II, recent “Piano & A Microphone Tour” dates in Australia found Prince performing a career-spanning array of songs that changed radically from night to night and set to set.
Tickets for the two shows will go on sale at 12 p.m., Wednesday February 24th through Ticketmaster.com. Reserved seats for the Paramount Theatre shows will range in price from $99 to $275 plus applicable charges.
As with most smaller venue Prince concerts, strict anti-scalping measures will be in place, including limiting tickets to 4 per person and using paperless tickets. Purchasers will only be able to redeem their tickets in person the night of the show using the ID and credit card used to purchase the tickets. All tickets are non-transferable and the entire party must enter the venue at the same time.
