According to a new report, Disney is ready to launch a new ‘Mary Poppins’ musical based on the original children’s book series.
This will not be a sequel to the beloved 1964 film starring Julie Andrews as the magical nanny. The new film will pick up years after the original and pick storylines from the other 7 books in the P.L. Travers series.
EW is reporting that the film will be directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Into the Woods) with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Smash) handling the songwriting.
No details on the production schedule or possible casting has been revealed.
