Bobby Brown opened up about losing Bobbi Kristina Brown, his daughter with Whitney Houston, for the first time this morning. Brown appeared on The Real‘s season 2 premiere alongside his wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown.

Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in her bathtub on January 31st and placed in a medically-induced coma. In June, she was removed from life support and transferred to hospice center, where she passed away on July 26.

According to Rolling Stone, Brown admitted on the show to not believing the worst initially. “We prayed and hoped for six months for something better to happen,” he shared. “But when God calls you, He calls you.”

He continued, “I’m pretty sure her mother was…had a part with like, ‘Come on, let’s get her up here.’ She was not comfortable by herself, I guess. She just called my daughter with her.”

Brown admitted to wrestling with the timing, believing that he could have stopped things.”If I could have been there two days before, it wouldn’t have went down like that,” he said.

Bobbi Kristina’s estate has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her boyfriend at the time, Nick Gordon, accusing him of foul play. The lawsuit states that Gordon “gave Bobbi Kristina a toxic cocktail rendering her unconscious and then put her face down in a tub of cold water.”
