Most people head to Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco for the killer list of rock bands, rappers, and chanteuses. The lineup for this year is pretty stacked, so obviously that’s reason enough to head to the festival, however, Outside Lands always does a pretty good job of presenting a well-rounded experience every year.
Consistently, the food is top-notch local fare, the Wine and Beer Lands are curated to perfection, and side stages are never an afterthought.
Again, this is the case with The Barbary, the festival’s comedy and improv destination, where some of the funniest top names in stand up will do sets during this year’s fest.
Headlining the showcase this year is Tig Notaro, a comedian heralded by contemporaries like Louis C.K. as “masterful,” who made headlines in recent years for flipping a series of truly horrible life events (her mother’s death, a breakup from a serious partner, and an ominous breast cancer diagnosis) into one of the funniest, most beautiful sets ever performed.
Also supporting are members of “The Daily Show” news team, including Hasan Minhaj, Jordan Klepper, and San Francisco’s own Al Madrigal, as well as Matt Walsh from HBO’s “Veep”, “Saturday Night Live” alum Horatio Sanz, and improv stalwarts Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade.
