Happy Friday Bay Area!
Welcome to the weekend (and to the end of July — eek!).
Here are some of the biggest stories from our week. Enjoy and don’t forget to chill and don’t take BART!
Europe can’t have all the fun! Finally, our little weird city held its first annual Ginger Pride Festival in San Francisco. Though the event hit a snag when SF arks & Rec got wind that too many people would be heading towards Dolores Park, the party charged on with a different venue.
After playing a show in San Jose this week, Morrissey headed to SFO to catch a flight to London. As he documented in a blog post following the incident, a security agent “groped” him. See the full story above.
Bacon is a good enough reason to be anywhere, really, but after adding beer, music, and warm weather to the equation, it’s obvious: bacon is best enjoyed in the company of others.
Damn, Italians really love the Foo Fighters! A superfan aiming to catch the eye (and ear) of Dave Grohl decided to do something epic: gather up 1,000 musicians to play a huge rendition of their classic “Learn to Fly” send it off into the Internet, and see what happens. All the struggle was in hopes of a simple, kind of sweet thing: to get the Foo Fighters to play a show in Cesena, Italy, where the band hasn’t played since the mid-90s.
Macklemore has always been relatively open about his struggles with addition, and as he recently admitted, he had a relapse after the pressure of touring and making an album got the better of him. He’s clean now and doing well, but he has a good deal to say on addiction, wellness, and coping with music.
