‘Ant-Man’ Crawls Its Way To Box Office Heights During Opening Weekend

Paul Rudd had a real good week. He pranked Conan O-Brien (again), enjoyed the hype around Clueless’ 20th anniversary, and now, is basking in the glow of taking the #1 box office position over the weekend.

His film Ant-Man claimed the spot with $58 million, and while that’s not as much as Marvel was hoping it would bank, it’s still a considerable accomplishment. The film garnered an “A” CinemaScore, which is commendable, considering the hero character was relatively unknown to those unfamiliar with the Marvel Universe.

In other news, Minions suffered a steep drop in viewers this weekend (~57%) since its opening, but is still managing to stay at second place.

Trainwreck, the dudebro comedy starring breakout comedian Amy Schumer took third with a higher-than-expected $30 milion.
