We ain’t never had a friend quite like the Genie. Since Robin Williams’ iconic portrayal of the man in perpetual blue, the Genie has been a longtime favorite of Disney fans for almost 25 years, which is why Disney has decided to finally give the character the due attention he needs with a proper movie.
The new film, called Genies, will be a live-action prequel to the flick, produced by Tripp Vinson, the same person who will produce the upcoming Prince Charming adaptation.
As most Disney aficionados know, Aladdin told the tale of a young “street rat” who happened upon a genie locked in a magic lamp, leading his whole world to change.
The new film tells exactly how our favorite blue Genie became enslaved and attached to the lamp.
As Hollywood Reporter states, the plan is for the film to eventually lead into a live-action adaptation of Aladdin.
Who do you hope to see in the lead roles?
