San Franciscans are busy people. However, as a men’s grooming site has found, the city’s men are not too busy to find time to take care of their appearances.

As evidenced by residents’ complete lack of sleep, men in this town have been utilizing their waking time for everything from working out to primping, whether that means getting their hair cut, beard trimmed, or clothes fitted.

GroomingLounge.com, “the nation’s premier resource for men’s grooming” conducted research to try to find out what major cities are home to the “most handsome” men.

“Wait,” you might be thinking, “how can a website determine where the best-looking men live in the U.S.? Should I be concerned about my cyber security? Is my webcam filming me without my knowledge?”

No (well maybe, I don’t know), but said website is using their own data to determine which cities hold men more likely to spend money and time on grooming services provided through their site, matched up with what cities are the “fittest” in the nation.

The information compiled by their site includes data from “amount spent on personal care services per man, spent on personal care products per man, spent on shaving needs per man, spent on apparel per man,” all to discern “the men in each city’s commitment to appearance.”

While we suppose those may be indicators for “most handsome,” it seems more likely that these factors rather point to who has more money and the will to maintain appearances. San Franciscans certainly fit the bill for the latter.

Nevertheless, the findings are interesting.

The site found that San Francisco men spent the most money on apparel each year, at around $3,731, and spent the second most on personal care items at $3,132. Furthermore, they also spent $2,817 on personal care services, placing them third as far as spa trips and haircuts are concerned. All together, combined with being one of the fittest cities in the country, San Francisco men wound up in the second place spot as the “most handsome” men in the U.S.
