Pregnant Walk Off The Earth Singer Kicked Off United Flight At SFO For Fussy Child

By Alyssa Pereira

Sarah Blackwood, a singer in the Canadian group Walk Off The Earth (who performed at Now & Zen in 2013), was escorted off her United flight on Wednesday headed to Vancouver because of her son’s brief temper tantrum.

The singer, who is also pregnant, told a Canadian news outlet that her 2-year-old son “was just having a fussy day,” and that his outburst shouldn’t have warranted being kicked off her flight.

The pilot reportedly determined that her son was “a safety threat,” and “turned the plane around and went back to the gate and asked me to leave the plane after he was fully sleeping.”

Skywest Airlines, which operated the flight for United, doesn’t seem apologetic about the incident.

“Despite numerous requests, the child was not seated and was repeatedly in the aisle of the aircraft before departure and during taxi,” the company officially stated. “The crew made the appropriate decision to return to the gate in the interest of safety.”

However, not everyone on the flight agreed with the way at least one member of the in-flight staff treated Blackwood. As CBS San Francisco reports, one passenger wrote “Everyone on that flight was shocked at how unprofessional, unreasonable and insensitive a certain member of [the] staff acted.” Another called the flight attendant’s behavior “appalling.”

Walk off the Earth became a viral sensation for their single guitar cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know”.
