8:00am: The elite athletes are off and running for the 103rd Bay to Breakers! They’ll finish before many of the other “runners” start. The super-fast runners are competing for time and prize money…
Bay to Breakers started in 1912…no reports of naked runners that year. We’ll keep you posted on the naked runner count for this year.
I saw three women and one man walking towards the Embarcadero this morning…all wearing lovely tutus held up by suspenders and, of course, running shoes. Typical Bay to Breakers gear!
Winning time the first year of the race: 44:10. Fastest time ever: Sammy Kitwara of Kenya is the current men’s record holder with a time of 33:31 in 2009, and Lineth Chepkurui of Kenya is the current women’s record holder with a winning time of 38:07 in 2010.
