We’ll take any reason at all to attend a beer festival, really. Just tell us there’s some tasty brews and we’re basically there. However, if you’re of the variety where you’d like to do a little bit of good while you’re imbibing, this is the event for you.

The BreastFest Beer Festival raises money to fight breast cancer for low-income women. It doesn’t get much more well-meaning than that, folks. Benefiting the Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic (CMCC), a state licensed non-profit clinic offering alternative medical treatments for low-income women diagnosed with cancer, the BreastFest began when a daughter watched her mother take on the disease. Upset to find out that alternative medical treatments are almost never covered by common health care plans, she sought to begin a benefit helping all women find affordable options.

By now, the festival has been running for well over a decade. First held in Marin County in July 2000 featuring only 16 breweries, the event now invites 60 brewers and food vendors, along with local musicians, all in an effort to raise money for those fighting cancer.

This year’s event will be held at Fairground Island in San Rafael on Saturday, July 18. Tickets are for sale now for $55 (at the door for $65) and includes “endless eats and bottomless cups.” Grab them here.
