Watch Robots Compete Against Each Other For Free This Weekend Inside A NASA Research Center

By Alyssa Pereira

It may not be as vicious as a standard robot battle, but Botball may just be even more impressive.

This Saturday, April 18, high school students from all over Northern California will compete for scholarship money in a robotics tournament where they’ll show off their engineering expertise. The goal is simple: to prove that their robot is the smartest, fastest, and also, most diabolical.

In this competition, robots will complete various tasks, where they will be judged on accuracy and speed. It’s all pretty nice and courteous — until the Head-To-Head round. During this portion of the competition, robots will be able to “sabotage their competitors.”

This year’s event will be held at NASA Ames Research Center in San Jose (specifically inside the N152 Conference Building, Room 171) from 10 am to 5:30 pm.
