Regarded as the universal ambrosia to the deities, demi-gods and mortals alike, grilled cheese sandwiches have long been considered the greatest food in the history of mankind. This Sunday, April 12, they’re getting their own Feast Day, for which a mini festival will be held at SoMa’s StrEat Food Park in San Francisco. Obviously, it’s a must-attend event, especially because it’s now scientifically true that grilled cheese sandwich lovers are sexier and better at life.
For those who have never been, StrEat Food Park is a collective of rotating food trucks all offering up high-quality street style grub and brews, parked outside a semi-outdoor seating area (stacked with a few TVs for you baseball fans). This weekend’s theme? Grilled. Freaking. Cheese.
Admission is free, sandos will be sold, and beer specials are planned ($3 PBRs), but if you’re extra keen on the cheesy offerings, you can buy an Eventbrite ticket for $20 to let you taste several different sandwiches from several vendors and vote on the best one.
There are a bunch of trucks with their own cheese varieties, but some of the standouts include:
- American Grilled Cheese Kitchen, which will be serving one made with truffle oil, boschetto al tartufo (Italian cow milk), smoked bacon and creme fraiche
- The Grilled Cheez Guy, who is making grilled cheese nachos with Santipapas salsa (made in Oakland) & Mexican crema
- Lil Burma, which will cook up Burmese Chicken Kabat grilled Paratha sandwiches
Mouth watering yet?
Hurry up and get a ticket!
