It’s probably not accurate to say that Spotify is universally disliked among musicians; aside from a few high profile artists taking their music off the service–chief among them Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean—few seem to care enough to discuss it too often.
Jay Z‘s TIDAL? Well, from the start, things seem a little different.
The new streaming service owned by the rapper and mogul launches today (March 30). A press conference is scheduled for later in the day, but already multiple musicians have shown their support for it—and we’re not talking mid-range acts looking for higher spin revenues than Spotify may currently supply.
Kanye West, Rihanna, Coldplay, Arcade Fire and Nicki Minaj are among the musicians who tweeted their support today for the service, also doing so by changing their display photos to nothing but a light blue background.
“Together, we can turn the tide and make music history,” West tweeted. “Start by turning your profile picture blue.”
