Mike Mignola’s iconic comic book character Hellboy has just turned 21 and in honor of the occasion Oregon’s Rogue Ales has launched a Hellboy themed brew.

If you are not familiar with the Hellboy character, he is a gruff but good-natured red demon with tail and horns who was discovered as a baby by Allied Forces after being summoned from hell by Nazi occultists. He was raised as a normal boy by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm and fights Nazis and supernatural beings along side the United States Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.).

The (obviously) red ale is called the Right Hand of Doom Red Ale in a reference to Hellboy’s enlarged stone right hand and is dedicated to Hellboy, Mike Mignola, Dark Horse Comics, and the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.

According to the Rogue website, the ale is “brewed with all the same passion and intensity that Mike Mignola and Dark Horse have brought to Hellboy for the past 21 years.”
