The weather outside is indeed frightful, but hanging out fireside with a whiskey in hand is, while very cliché, still goddamn delightful.

If you’re hanging in the City today, and want to get out of the nasty weather, make it into one of these eleven bars tucked throughout the city where you can cozy right on up next to a fireplace.

1. Zeki’s
Neighborhood: Nob Hill
Equipped with a pool table in addition to the fireplace and an impressive Yelp rating to boot, this “friendly, unpretentious” bar is so cool (or, warm) that it just may become your go-to Winter watering hole.

2. Bottom of the Hill
Neighborhood: Potrero Hill
While you’ll need to snag a concert ticket to hang next to Bottom of the Hill’s fireplace, rest assured that your journey to this legendary music club will be well worth it.

3. Swig
Neighborhood: Tenderloin
Before they set their sights on Bourbon & Branch, the great minds behind the San Francisco cocktail renaissance opened Swig. Following a big remodel in recent years, the bar is a great place to impress a date.

4. The Bitter End
Neighborhood: Inner Richmond
A local gem across the street from new venue Neck of the Woods, The Bitter End offers up traditional comfort food, an array of beers (+ three or four ciders!) and, of course, a fireplace.

5. 25 Lusk
Neighborhood: SoMa
Tucked within a tiny street by the ballpark, 25 Lusk is one of the fancier joints on this list. You might be ponying up a little more to get cozy, but if you’re looking for something fancy (and for some post-work munchies), this is your best bet.

6. Maven
Neighborhood: Lower Haight
The fireplace at Maven is in the mezzanine, so unless you specifically request a table up there near it, you might be out of luck, but the food is tasty, the menu is varied, and the living wall is pretty cool to look at if you need something to stare at.

7. Fireside Bar
Neighborhood: Inner Sunset
The only thing we love more than dive bars are dive bars with fireplaces that get right to the point.

8. The Grove on Fillmore
Neighborhood: Lower Pac Heights
If you want to cozy up with a glass of wine or beer but you’ve got a family in tow, this is about to be your new favorite place. Small plates like sandwiches and late brunch dishes keep little ones appeased (or at least quiet for now), and a nice selection of libations means everyone is happy.

9. Riptide
Neighborhood: Outer Sunset
Riptide is by far one of the biggest favorites for locals, and though it might be a trek if you’re not from the area (or even if you are from the area), the buzzy bar by the Ocean has enough warmth for a cozy weekend day trip (or hooky!).

10. Lion Pub
Neighborhood: Pac Heights
Almost a speakeasy, Lion Pub doesn’t really have any signage other than a surly bouncer and a lion on the front door. Once you enter, however, you’ve reached what’s possibly the coziest bar in San Francisco.

11. Chambers
Neighborhood: Tenderloin
A favorite of touring rock stars staying at the Phoenix Hotel (this is indeed true), Chambers not only offers custom cocktails and fireside warmth, but also shelves and shelves of records to marvel at.
