According the the San Francisco Business Times, $10 million dollars has just been allocated to build a bike path on the western span of the Bay Bridge.

Currently you can ride your bike on a portion of the bridge—from Oakland to the bridge tower—but with the new funding, by Labor Day you can go at least halfway, to Yerba Buena Island.

If funding continues, eventually you might just be able to take a trip all the way across (and all the way up to Marin if you can handle it!).

The whole path will reportedly cost $400 million (remember it will have to run through the tunnel as well somehow), but will also accommodate walkers along the seven or so miles all the way to the city.
