Gossip from every which way has been floating around San Francisco about the fate of the stalwart Mission bar Elbo Room, and for a long time, Elbo Room was shooting it all down.

However, as Curbed and Mission Local report, Elbo Room doesn’t look to have a platform to contest any longer.

Dennis Ring and Susan Rokisky-Ring, who own the building and founded the bar (they sold just the bar back in 2010) have expressed their desire to convert it into a condo complex with an elevator to live in when they retire.

According to plans submitted to the city, the reconstructed complex would be a five-story, nine-unit building with a street level commercial space and a roof deck.

The Ring family have reportedly publicly promised to help Elbo Room find a new home, but as of now, the bar is scheduled to close at the end of 2015. However, the space is up for consideration as a historical research due to its history as lesbian bar Amelia’s, so the actual project start date may in fact be pushed forward quite a ways while the project gets the approvals it needs.

As of yet, Elbo Room has not returned our request for a comment.
