Fake ’90s Band Polaris From ‘The Adventures Of Pete And Pete’ Goes On Tour 21 Years Later

Rejoice millennials. If you grew up watching Nickelodeon in the early ’90s (when it was actually good) then get ready for this slice of news.

Remember that band best known as the band from TV show “The Adventures of Pete And Pete”? Well, 21 years after they were first featured in the opening introduction of the cult classic show, Polaris has decided it’s time to hit the stage for a cross-country tour.

The indie rockers hid in the shadows for much of the ’90s, releasing only one record aptly titled “Music From The Adventures Of Pete & Pete” in 1999.

“It’s weird. I don’t know why, we could have been playing all these years,” front man Mark Mulachy told Wired Magazine. “It’s the strange world of Polaris.”

And it fit perfectly with the strange world of Pete and Pete, cast off as a children’s TV show about two redhead brothers attempting to navigate their suburban surroundings. But while its subtle nuances and quirky cast of characters (including Petunia the tattoo and Mom’s head plate) came off as funny to children, adult onlookers saw it as an intelligent, breath of fresh air different from other copy-cat sitcoms at the time.

So dust off that flannel shirt and put on a sunflower dress — the trio’s Waiting For October tour is heading to nine different cities across the Midwest and East Coast this fall.
