Hardly Strictly Headliner Tweedy Talk With Colbert About Family, Drumming, And Growing Up

By Alyssa Pereira

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is fast approaching (less than two weeks!) and it’s high time we get to know one of the festival’s headliners, Tweedy.

Jeff Tweedy is not only the progenitor of Tweedy (and also of itsĀ other band member Spencer), he is also known as the head of indie giant alterna band Wilco.

Today, he and his son Spencer tour the country playing folk alternative.

They stopped by the Colbert Report last night to talk about making music with family. “I had a really good time telling my friends my dad was a rock star,” Spencer says jokingly.

But he’s a mature kid, as his father Jeff will attest. “My wife and I always joke that he’s the most mature person in the family,” he says. “And that’s because he has better parents than we did.”

Check out the interview below and a couple songs from their new albumĀ Sukierae.
