We’ve been rooting for Viracocha to get its accreditation to run as a legitimate performance space for a minute now, and as it turns out, it looks like it has finally come to fruition.

According to SF Weekly, Viracocha owner Jonathan Siegel finally received a venue permit from the city’s Entertainment Commission yesterday.

Over the last few months, Siegel has been silently renovating the space’s wiring, plumbing, and retail space upstairs. Now, as he says, they’ll feature more local artist-oriented offerings for sale. “Now that we can share the downstairs, we want to show the different people that are involved artistically with the space,” he told SF Weekly. “It’s starting to create a clearer picture of what we’re about and what we’re doing, which is really a cultural advocacy group.”

The venue will reopen officially this Friday.
