Who would have guessed that George R. R. Martin doesn’t have a problem with killing off his Game of Thrones characters?
Now that he’s getting down to the final chapters of the book, he apparently has “a lot more flexibility” with the fates of his characters, or so he told the crowd at London’s Freemasons’ Hall in London recently.
“The way my books are structured, everyone was together, then they all went their separate ways and the story deltas out like that, and now it’s getting to the point where the story is beginning to delta back in, and the viewpoint characters are occasionally meeting up with each other now and being in the same point at the same time, which gives me a lot more flexibility for killing people.”
So there you have it folks—if you were hoping for a jovial, harmonious ending for your favorite characters, well, you are going to be disappointed. You will be absolutely not surprised, but disappointed.
