Rumors have been flying about what’s to come for ‘Game of Thrones’ and, as George R. R. Martin revealed at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, it seems fans have legitimately pieced together some of the nuances and details as to how the series will end. “So many readers were reading the books with so much attention that they were throwing up some theories and while some of those theories were amusing bulls — and creative — some of the theories are right,” he said.
But it’s not just some details. He goes on to say, “At least one or two readers had put together the extremely subtle and obscure clues that I’d planted in the books and came to the right solution.”
Regardless, though, that doesn’t mean his going to change the way he anticipated on wrapping up the story just to trick people. “I hate predictable fiction as a reader, I don’t want to write predictable,” he said at the Festival. “I wrestled with that issue and I came to the conclusion that changing it would be a disaster, because the clues were there. You can’t do that, so I’m just going to go ahead.”
But while there are many theories, we suspect the end will have a little to do with that old saying “Valar morghulis” and a little more to do with that crazy theory about Jon Snow.
