OKCupid Admits to Experimenting on Its Users With Bad Match Results

By Alyssa Pereira

Sorry lovers, that last match OKCupid set you up with might have been wrong…on purpose.

As the post kind of insensitively titled, “We Experiment on Human Beings!” goes, OKCupid co-founder Christian Rudder explained that some users were told they were 90% compatible with someone. The problem? They were actually not at all a match.

Rudder defended their actions, saying, “if you use the Internet, you’re the subject of hundreds of experiments at any given time, on every site. That’s how websites work.”

Some of the other experiments included ditching profile photos and inviting user to rate each other based on appearance. Check out the full post here on OKCupid’s blog.
