It was only a matter of time, really.
The Guild of Cookery, an organization of chefs who recreate meals from the Song of Fire and Ice books had the brilliant idea to curate a menu based on the cuisine of Dorne, the home of Oberyn Martell. According to the Guild, “Dorne is a land of mystery and intrigue. Lust and vengeance, fiery tempers, and cold-hearted deception are the bread and butter of the Dornish people.” This sounds like it’s gonna be spicy.
“Fiery peppers harmonize with sweet, subtle sauces. Citrus, honey, olives, cheeses and chickpeas play major roles in this cuisine which so closely relates those of the Spanish Mediterranean.” Yum.
They’re sold out, but who knows—apparently this is the encore of the Red Viper Feast, so there may be more. Check out the menu, as executed by the Contigo, a Spanish restaurant on Castro Street in San Francisco:
Zanzarelli (Medieval version of Stracciatella, an Italian egg-drop soup)
Roasted Green Peppers stuffed with cheese and onions
“Lamprey” Pie (which, thankfully is actually eel and spinach)
Honey Roasted Hen
Poached Catfish with Garlic
Snake Stew with Blood Orange and Hot Peppers
Sugar Skulls with Plum and Cherry Custard
