The World Cup, like any international sporting event, is a great excuse to get together with your friends and drink, whether or not you even like soccer. Even if you don’t know how to play the game, you’ll be able to follow along with this one.

Grab a beer, take a seat, and get ready. As always, don’t be dumb—drink responsibly.

The Game:

Drink once every time:

Someone has been fouled
Every time there’s a substitution
Every time someone is wearing a headband
Whenever you hear a vuvuzuela (*shudder*)
Every time Budweiser is mentioned
Every time a coach is screaming and pointing
Every time the following words are said:

  • “formation”
  • “exquisite”
  • “brilliant”
  • “110%”
  • “equalizer”

Drink twice every time:

A yellow card is issued
Someone (fouled or not) makes a very dramatic fall
Every time someone is offsides
A ref calls a hand ball

Finish your drink if:

A goal is scored
A red card is issued

Extra Time:

For every added minute, take one drink.

If one of your friends screams “GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLL!” he or she must finish their drink and go sit outside until the next substitution.
