Coach Jim Harbaugh’s pleated khakis became a national story at the beginning of the year and now it seems that he and his wife have turned that into a deal with Dockers.
Way back in January, while the 49ers were in the midst of a playoff run, our sister station 99.7 [NOW!] put 49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh on blast for his terrible pleated khakis. Little did the morning duo know but Harbaugh’s wife Sarah was listening and decided to call the show. She called – not to defend the pants – but to explain that even she had no control over her husbands poor fashion choices.
“I’ve thrown them away many of times. I’ve asked him ‘Please, pleats are gone. Wear the flat front.'” she explained to Fernando and Greg, “He has a flattering body.”
“I threw them out and when he went to the combine, he found a Walmart.” Sarah Harbaugh continued, “They were $8. $8!”
The story then took a life of it’s own and exploded into a viral sensation. (EDITORS NOTE: I recently saw a team at a Pub Trivia with the name “$8 Khakis.”)
It looks like the Harbaugh’s get the last laugh as they are now the spokespeople for the latest Dockers campaign “#StopDadPants.”
In the spot, a very sincere looking Sarah Harbaugh explains, “I’d like to talk to you about a serious condition effecting countless men in our country. I’m talking, of course, about ‘Dad Pants.'”
