Despite Vulture’s claims that Adam Sandler is one of the most important comedians of his generation, his new film with Drew Barrymore, Blended, utterly bombed at the box office this weekend. Blended grossed $10 million less than his last disappointing film, Jack and Jill. Surely, many thought that the revived combination of Barrymore and Sandler following two successful films featuring the co-stars (The Wedding Singer and Fifty First Dates) would do well, but unfortunately, Blended proved to do no more good than create an excuse for a vacation.

In less bleak news, X-Men dominated the box office this week, although despite its killer cast, it did not surpass its previous franchise records. However, it did do well enough overseas to guarantee it will be the highest earning X-Men movie of all time, as critics are expecting it to gross over $282 million by next weekend. It didn’t set any records for the highest earning of Memorial Day Weekend, but it did come in at an impressive fifth place.

Godzilla fell 67% to $31 million, likely due to the fact that the movie turned out to not be exactly what was advertised.
