Dr. Susan Shaheen is a Research Associate at the Mineta Transportation Institute, an adjunct professor at UC Berkeley’s Institute of Transportation Studies, and the co-director of UC Berkeley’s Transportation Sustainability Research Center. She has a PhD in ecology, focusing on technology management and the environmental aspects of transportation, from the University of California, Davis, and a Masters degree in public policy analysis from the University of Rochester. She completed her post-doctoral studies on advanced public transportation systems at the University of California, Berkeley.

Ride sharing, bike sharing and car sharing…all part of what Dr. Shaheen studies…how people get around the Bay Area and why they choose to drive solo, carpool, ride share, bike share, or take public transportation.

She talks about the new Bay Area Bike Share Program and ongoing transportation research.
