This weekend’s box office winner was “Evil Dead” – taking the top slot away from last week’s #1 “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” “Evil Dead” is the remake of 1981 Sam Raimi horror classic titled “The Evil Dead” and had a reported budget of about $17 million. Not a bad return on investment for producers Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell.

The other big winner for the weekend was the 3-D re-release of Steven Steven Spielberg’s classic “Jurassic Park.” The twentieth anniversary 3-D and IMAX made just shy of $20 million in its first weekend back in theaters.
