LADY ON A DIME: The Best Online Dating Looks

Are you interested in finding real love…online? You are definitely not alone, and millions of men and women are searching daily for their sweetheart on sites like match, eHarmony, or OkCupid. Since online dating is mostly about pictures, it is important to make the first right impression…through fashion!

Check out my top online dress-code suggestions for the lady on the search for love:

From roses to hearts, red has long symbolized romance and love. French scientists of the Universite´ de Bretagne-Sud have discovered that women received more contacts from men in response to their online dating profiles when they wore red as opposed to any other colors. Check out this pic to see a good use of the perfect red top for your profile.

Now careful here: even though we know that showing skin is the best way to get some attention it is not recommended to reveal yourself too openly in your profile picture. An overly sexy picture could shy away potential suitors, and attract a bunch of sleazeballs that only have one thing on their mind…Show off your curves tastefully with nice necklines, and avoid this look.

Unless you are a princess socialite there is no need to post your most glamorous party shots of yesterday’s lavish Holiday party. You don’t want to fall into the category of “HIGH MAINTENANCE” just because your profile image says you love diamonds and evening gowns.

Apparently some of us think it’s beneficial to use props in pictures (mustaches, hats, headbands with ears…) Not only do they distract from you, they also make you appear silly, and not to be taken seriously. Just keep it simple, and don’t overdue it with jewelry and make-up. The best look is your everyday look showing off your beautiful smile!

Your picture’s background or the company you are with in the picture says a lot about yourself. The best way to portray yourself is alone with a clean and simple background. Choose plain backgrounds like a field of flowers or a plain colored wall rather than your messy living room couch. Avoid self-made bathroom shots (sorry I had to put this one up)  that say “I’m lonely and hide in bathrooms”, or pictures with other men/women that look like they’ve had a piece of you.

Have fun dating!!!
