SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – There’s a new Elmo in town, at least a man dressed like him. The colorful character dubbed “Evil Elmo” has taken his act to San Francisco after being arrested in New York City.
According to the New York Times, the man, whose real name is Adam Sandler (no relation to the actor), was arrested last month in New York City for harassing tourists. He was seen in front of a Toys R Us store in Times Square saying anti-Semitic statements.
Witnesses said Sandler has made his way to San Francisco. He has been spotted in Fisherman’s Wharf and a park in the Inner Richmond.
