Third i Films presents the 10th Annual San Francisco International South Asian Film Festival September 19th through 23rd at the Roxie and Castro Theaters in San Francisco and on September 30th at Camera 12 in San Jose.

The opening night film is “The Island President,” a documentary about how rising sea levels are threatening the Maldives.

Ivan Jaigirdar and Anuj Vaidya are Co-directors of the festival and their “pick-to-click” this year is “The World Before Her,” a documentary about two worlds within India…the Hindu fundamentalist movement and the Miss India Pageant. The filmmaker goes behind the scenes in both places for interviews.

Another highly anticipated film is “Lucky,” the story of an elderly Indian woman (with an irrational fear of Africans),  and a South African orphan in post-Apartheid South Africa.

The schedule of movies and events are on the website. You can purchase tickets there as well.
