The kids at Sunset Youth Services off of Judah in San Francisco are working on some new projects. For the past few years, the center has taken at risk youth and given them skills of audio production and musical outlets through their label; Upstar Records. Now, they are working to raise funds for a film program through Kickstarter. If you have never been on the KickStarter website, it’s a great place to check out creative ideas that need some funding. One of my favorite parts is that with every donation you get some type of perk, like a high-five, handshake, sticker, or t-shirt. The more you donate, the more you get back, which almost makes it feel like a real purchase. Oh, and the only thing that is kind of sad about it, is that if the project ends up being a dollar short at the end of the set timeline, no money exchanges hands, and the project does not earn its funding. Sounds a little confusing, but if you check out the site, you’ll figure it all out. Anyway, it’s worth giving a look and supporting a good cause!
