Hey today’s music loving kids, Jon [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bon Jovi[/lastfm] feels really sorry for you, and it’s all Steve Jobs’ fault.

[photogallerylink id=60534 align=left]The rocker accuses the Apple co-founder of “killing” the music industry with iTunes.  Bon Jovi tells the Sunday Times Magazine,”Kids today have missed the whole experience of putting the headphones on, turning it up to 10, holding the jacket, closing their eyes and getting lost in an album; and the beauty of taking your allowance money and making a decision based on the jacket, not knowing what the record sounded like, and looking at a couple of still pictures and imagining it.

“God, it was a magical, magical time. I hate to sound like an old man now, but I am, and you mark my words, in a generation from now people are going to say: ‘What happened?’ Steve Jobs is personally responsible for killing the music business.”

[photogallerylink id=50799 align=left]Does Jon Bon Jovi not know how to work an iPod?  You need headphones to use an iPod, Jon.  Only the kids call headphones “ear buds” now.  Also, an iPod has volume control so you can actually crank it way the hell up, probably past ten.  No dust jacket?  Jon, I owned a couple of your albums back in the day.  I did not lovingly caress and kiss the dust jacket because I didn’t own many vinyl albums.  I bought your albums on cassette tape and played them on my Sony Walkman, the iPod of The Eighties.
A magical magical time?  You know what’s magical?  That I can carry my entire record collection around on a teeny tiny device that fits in my pocket.  I can turn on that little device, click a few buttons, and own a song in less than one minute.  Oh, and I don’t need the dust jacket to stare at because the song came with cover art and a video.  Magic.
Your outrage has been duly noted Grandpa Bon Jovi.  Have a butterscotch.
