COMEDY COCKTAIL: Charlyne Yi
In October 2004, Charlyne Yi broke into the comedy world by performing at AA meetings, Veteran’s homes, and biker bars throughout the little dirt town of Fontana, CA (aka The Home of The Hells Angels). Since then, she has performed in numerous shows at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, The Steve Allen Theatre, The Improv and The El Cid. She was also a finalist in The Andy Kaufman Awards in New York City. [photogallerylink id=61213 align=left]Last year, Charlyne performed a solo show at HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado. That same year, Daily Variety recognized her as one of comedy’s “Ten To Watch”.
Charlyne has appeared on NBC’s 30 ROCK and developed her acclaimed stage show, THE DOO DOO SHOW, into an NBC/Universal television program with her co-writer, Zach Paez.
Charlyne’s latest project, PAPER HEART, which she co-wrote and stars in, opposite Michael Cera, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2009 and received the festival’s Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award.
