Deep down, we all know that the real reason energy drinks give you “wings” is because they are packed full of TONS and TONS OF CAFFEINE… but this really puts things into perspective.

According to a new study by Michigan State University, energy drinks can have up to FIFTEEN TIMES the amount of caffeine of a can of Coke.

A can of Coke has 34 milligrams of caffeine. A can of an energy drink… from Red Bull to Rockstar to Amp…has between 80 and 500 milligrams.

For reference, the average cup of coffee has between 90-150 milligrams of caffeine. A Venti at Starbucks… meaning the really big one… has 480 milligrams of caffeine… the same as the most caffeinated energy drinks.
