Hey it’s Vinnie. The station wants a new bio for the website so here goes …

I grew up in So Cal, surfing, skateboarding, playing guitar and listening to punk rock. The first job I consistently showed up for was at a surf shop called Surfside Sports in Newport Beach, maybe you know it? I moved South after I graduated from Irvine High and lived all over San Diego in my 10 years there. I started working at South Coast surf shop in OB while going to Mira Costa College and that’s where I made connections that eventually led to radioโ€ฆ. My first job in radio was doing surf reports was on Rock 102.1 which later became Rock 105.3. My first big radio move was to Philadelphia where “Sarah and Vinnie” started, on WDRE Philly’s Modern Rock 103.9. WDRE sold and flipped formats but we moved to San Francisco and do our thing where you hear us today. I’m proud to say that Sarah is still my partner and I’ve never felt more at home than in the Bay Area. I still surf, skateboard and play guitar every chance I get and I still love doing radio. I’m a happy dude.

dear vinnie, i used to think you were a huge tool in the ’97 timeframe . then, mysteriously, i started to age backwards, and then, i suddenly began to like the show Friends, even David Schwimmer’s lameass character (the one who does not deserve any Aniston PU>>Y) and now ,i think i am your biggest and oldest fan.
like a frikkin’ phoenix, brah, you rose from the ashes. kudos man, for reinventing and becoming a better person. i love your show w/ sarah ( I’m a Masshole, so I love love love SARAH).
vin, think you are a funny f’in mofo.actually, a seriously funny mofo for SF, which seems to be dominated by on-air dink personalities. your fan, H

  5. Tom Levesque says:

As a dog lover, I love your Willa voice. It cracks me up every time, and wish you would do it more. It reminds me of the voices my friend does for her animals.

  6. brandee says:

Apparently you do not read everything….. (Sara’s book)

      1. Rhonda says:

I go way way back. Unfortunately I moved out of CA just when you returned to Alice. Previously I bought a CD you and Sarah made “Sarah & Vinnie – 5 years of Spills (& Thrills). It never fails to make me laugh even today. Are you going to make another CD? I think it’s time plus you do have a lot of stories to tell since that CD came out. It would also be nice to throw in some more songs you wrote other than the ones on the CD I now have. Miss your station in the morning – nothing compares!

  8. Jesse says:

Vinny, a new listener here. I saw this at NAB in Vegas and though of you instantly. Now you can post little vids of you on your surf and skate board! You make my wife and I laugh every morning when I drive her into SF for work. PS. Who came up with the lame Woof Woof Email thing?
    All the best. Jesse G.

  9. JuliAnn says:

Hey Vinnie, Don’t listen to HooMan! French Laundry has a great place right when you arrive in Yountville called AdHoc. It’s fix pris is about $55 a person. Food is served family style at your table. There is only one main dish per day but I lucked out as they were serving lamb, which I WONT eat, so they offered me sea bass instead. It’s hot in July so eat outside. HUGL juli

  10. Ken says:

Vinne you are a tool and because of that, I am no longer going to listen to the morning show.

    1. Neil says:

Pay no attention to Ken, you are one of the greatest radio jocks out there my friend!

      Neil.

  11. Jay Efel says:

Did anyone perform a penis check on Joan to verify it wasn’t an “impersonator”? If not, too bad it probably would have made her day.

  12. Michelle RN@LPCH/Stanford L&D says:

    Vinnie,
Sent an e-mail way back about my son and him Surfing at the tender age of 3yrs3mo. Yep. I have Maui Waves to show you with my son Alec showing off “his stuff”. How can I send them to you? Michelle

  13. Cherie says:

Vinnie.. Love the show. Been listening to you and Sarah for over a year and a half. As I told Sarah, neither one of you look like you sound. Funny. Still love ya.

  14. Ernesto says:

Been listening to Alice since the beginning-altho tuned out while you left–awesome to have you back, man! You guys rock!

  15. natalie says:

    Youre so hotk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Cindi says:

Vinnie, this morning you were talking about a fashion site called Try It On or something like that. There’s another one that’s actually been around for a couple of years called Fashism (www.fashism.com). It’s easy to use and lots of fun – a Hot or Not for fashion (with out the super nasty comments). I guess the concept is catching on.

  17. Corky Carol says:

    See ya in the surf…Corky

  18. Linda Johnson says:

I normally don’t listen to Alice, but I happened upon it one morning and enjoyed the commentary. I agree with Cherie, neither of you sound like you look. LOL. Not saying that you both don’t have interesting voices, because you do!

  19. Patricia says:

Just want to say that I think you are very interesting, real and down right funny. I get so entertained by your comments and reactions – it really gets me laughing…what a way to start the day. Thanks for being real! Oh and your laugh is infectious ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Amy says:

    Hey Vinnie-
Because of your honesty about your life and and just life in general, I have become a huge fan of Alice’s morning show. You have also been an inspiration to me to quit my excessive drinking. The one thing that really stood out to me was when you said (not a direct quote..) When managing your “crap” consumes you, then it’s time to do something about it. Right on!

  21. Kathy says:

I used to listen to you and Sarah “the first time around”. Loved your show and missed you with your departure. I heard you by chance when I was up in Oregon – recognized your voice and thought – Wow! Thats Vinnie!! Im glad to see you are back and healthy. Life is a journey!

  22. Sandy says:

Hi Vinnie. I think I saw you at Mollie Stones this morning (10/25). I was right in front of you in the check out line but you didn’t ever make eye contact so I didn’t want to bother you. I was so nervous…..kind of like I was so close to a “famous person”.

  23. Darcy says:

Hey Vinnie~ Just recently moved up here from S. CA and started tuning in to you guys for the morning drive! Thank you for making the adjustments to a new place easier! I love listening to all you guys in the morning, you all have a great dynamic. Plus I just read you’re from the old hometown so I love you even more this morning. Went to Mira Costa for a couple years myself and grew up off Manchester!

  24. Bernie says:

    Hey Vinnie,
I heard you talking about Us running out of water.(SF bay area) Wanted to let you know another way to conserve/save water is to do all swimming pool repairs without draining them, a back yard pool is about 15,000 to 20,000 gallons. I work for a company that does 90% of our work underwater (Scuba Pool Repair) If you want any info please let me know at bernie@scubapoolrepair.com
    Thanks Bernie

  25. HarryR says:

Vinnie, I am happy to hear you decided to get a Diesel. Good stuff! I can not believe that Americans don’t like Diesels, screw those dildo’s on wheels. Just wait until some batteries start braking up and electrocute some owners. Think it can not happen?….It will.

  26. Camille says:

please learn about other cultures and peoples, Vinnie. I turn off Alice everytime you are so informed about ‘white’ culture and soooooooooo willfully and actively and seemingly proud of your ignorance about what people of color experience, feel, etc.

It’s EMBARRASSING – this is San Francisco, dude .. PLEASE move beyond YOURSELF and join us in being a true Bay Area resident! Other than that, I like your contributions.

  27. Carlos says:

Vinnie!…I moved to San Fran from Texas (1998-2002) and you guys kept me awake while on my commute from Alameda to East Palo Alto where I was teaching K-3/4-8 grades…even though it was only 26 miles to and from work…it was a 2 hour commute each morning and afternoon…THANK YOU from this native Texan for the memories and glad to hear you’re back on the air!…peace brother!

  28. Shannon says:

Dear Vinne – thanks for making my mornings a little brighter at 5:45 a.m. daily. You and Sarah take the edge off the day a bit by brightening spirits. You keep us chuckling with your reality talk, monkey business, and shenningans and tomfooleries (ha). Keeping it real. You are great! Surf is bad the last few days ๐Ÿ˜ฆ … but I hope your holidays are bright and there are some GREAT waves in your forecast soon. BTW … I quilt (sew) as a “sport (hobby)” on occasion. You laughed and wondered about Quilt Conventions one morning. Whats the deal you thought? Well, it’s about the art, the friendships made, and the splendor of creation! Like surfing, sometimes, you just don’t know how it will turn out. But … the journey is 99% of the adventure. 2011 – I will mail you an awesome little quilt”lette” to put up on your wall. You can post it near your ladies of the day … and you’ll be reminded … the Wave of Life is good and friendships, brief or longlasting are gifts … and yup sometimes we just crash and burn – wipe out – we have to get up and go again! Much heartfelt wishes for goodness and grace for you in 2011 Vin Man. I wish I had learned to surf many moons ago. Now … hmm, swimming pool more my speed – in the slow lane (ha!). What’s the hurry? Joy to you and yours.

  29. Kenneth Mcrae says:

  31. loretta jones says:

    Hi Vinnie —

I love hearing about Willa. I have 2 dogs as well so I can relate. As you may or may not know the GGNRA has issued a plan that severely restricts off leash access to areas in the San Mateo, Marin and San Francisco (i.e. Crissy Field, Fort Funston) counties. Folks have 90 days to comment on the plan and influence the plan. Your listeners can find out how to address this and try and change the GGNRA proposed document at eco-dog.org.

Also Ocean Beach Dog Walkers has organized a call your supervisor day on Tuesday Feb 15. So all dog owners that live in SF and want to preserve off leash dog areas should call into their district supervisor on Tuesday Feb 15. There is more information on ‘call supervisors day’ at http://www.sfbos.org or call 415-554-5184. If you are able to talk about this on the air or post on your blog/site or Facebook page that would be great!

Love you guys and glad you are back!

  32. Champie says:

After living in Oregon ( Clackamas County ) most of my life ( 45 years up there. ), and now at 53 being back in California for 5 years ( Fairfield ). I miss Oregon. Do you Vinnie or were you just escaping when you lived up there?

  33. gurl says:

Vinnie ,you and Sarah have the best chemistry! Love you guys!! uzette and icky are a great asset too!!

  34. Jisaela says:

Vinni! I have been listening to this show since I was like 12. And honestly, as much as I love Sarah, when you left I stopped listening to the show. I was so stoked when you came back to the show (I listened to Woody Tony and Ravey until they got cancelled). I am not a fan of the music on Alice, but the morning show makes it ALL worth while. And I won tickets this morning which really made my day. I love you al!!! I am starting work as the beverage cart on Sundays at Peacock Gap Golf Course in San Rafael this month. You should come down and check it out!!!

  35. Thom says:

Glad to know you are doing well. I love listening to you in the morning. I got healthy in 1999. Life is good.

  36. Dick says:

Vinnie, you know NOTHING about how an economic stimulus works…or in your case, does NOT work.

    1. Ren Car says:

      Dick,

Since you accused Vinnie of not knowing how an economic stimulus work, is it safe to assume that you know how it works? Care to enlighten us with your economic theory? An economic stimulus is a theory, don’t you agree? So let’s here it, Dick Maynard keynes!

  37. Jo says:

    Vinnie,
So glad to have found you and Sarah again. Listened to you about 17-18 years ago and found you again this last year. You make my morning commute! I’ve programmed a button on all our family’s car radios to Alice – even my husband’s truck and he is a sports-talk junkie…

  38. Steve Jackson says:

You know Vinnie you say you went away to get healthy. Is that code for the crazed bitch that was chasing you found you and you had to hide. I was so glad you left and I left and now I come back and to see you and Sarah back it is just horrible. Can’t listen to you guys anymore. I listen once in a while to make sure I hate you and that hag Sarah. You guys are just awful.

    1. jb says:

yikes dude, if you are going to be so hateful, maybe you shouldn’t sign your entire name.

  39. Samantha says:

    Hey there,

I was wondering if you could help.. I am interested in what Jan does with movies.. can you tell me the job title.. I would like to find a school to help me.. Its so interesting..

    Thank you

    Sam

  40. nelson yee says:

Hi vinnie, love listening to your morning. I wanted to ask you if you might be able to help me out. I know you love surfing so I thought I’d ask you on some suggestions on how to pick a place to learn how to surf? It is for my two kids, daughter 12 and son about 10. I wanted them to take lessons on the big Island. Hope you may have some ideas.

    Thank You for your help

    Nelson Yee

  41. Ren Car says:

    Vinny,

You are a tool.. but a funny and enjoyable tool, lol. I love it when you sometimes act immaturely.. it’s so Vinny! There is a good dick and a bad dick.. and you are the former, ha!

  42. Vinny, Go to Valerie Starbuck for Pilates. I was on my way to being an invalid (Hairstylists can’t do that) and she cured me. Look her up on my friends list. Only your going to have to secure something down very tightly. I’m a straight girl and I get a little warm in there.

  43. Robin says:

I love your laugh, Vinnie, it just makes my day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  44. Julie Zeller says:

    Vinnie,
I so thrilled you are back on the AMS (Alice Morning Show)!!! I met both you and Sarah when you came to Any Mountain store in Corte Madera in 1995 (I think). I was royally bummed when I didn’t hear your antics when I came back to the bay area after college in 2004. Great to hear you kicked the habit and got back to surfing. California surfing is the best! To hear you again on the air waves and all your antics with Sarah makes me smile ear to ear every morning at work through online streaming radio. Thanks for continuing to be awesome! Your fan, Julz

  45. Raul Salazar says:

Dude, Vinnie! Just saw the last episode of Homeland, didn’t realized I had missed it till I checked my OnDemand. Awesome, intense, amazing, nerve racking episode! When Brody was about to do it I could barely stay breathe! Can’t wait till next season!

  46. gkeeper says:

    Hey Vinnie,

I’m heading to Nica in July. Trying to set up a plan. If possible, I’d love to hear about where you decided to post up while there as I don’t know any more than I’ve read about or seen online. Any other insights would be much appreciated!
